Lawsuits Against Major Toothpaste Brands Over Fluoride Content
2025-02-25
Today (January 15th), according to reports from Reuters and other major foreign media outlets, several parents have filed lawsuits in federal courts in Illinois and California.
They are accusing Procter & Gamble's Crest brand for multiple children's toothpaste products, Colgate-Palmolive's Tom's of Maine and Hello brands for various toothpaste products sold, Perrigo's Firefly anti-cavity mouthwash, and Sanofi's ACT Kids mouthwash of containing fluoride.
Public information indicates that while fluoride applied to teeth can help prevent cavities, excessive ingestion poses significant risks to young children and can even lead to death.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Tom's of Maine brand has faced issues. In November last year, the FDA sent a warning letter to Colgate's CEO Noel Wallace.
The letter pointed out that during an inspection of the Tom's of Maine factory in Sanford from May 7 to May 22, 2024, the FDA found issues with bacteria and mold in the facility.
