The Rise of Chinese Beauty Products in Vietnam's Market
2025-01-08
In Hanoi, Vietnam, Mint Cosmetics, a beauty retail chain with 14 stores, began selling Chinese beauty products from the first quarter of 2024, and currently, Chinese beauty products account for as much as 8% of the store's offerings.
The head of the chain's marketing team, Linh Nguyen, said, "Purchasing Chinese beauty products has become a trend in Vietnam, and nowadays, young people's demand for Chinese cosmetics is much higher than in previous years." Even greater growth comes from online sales.
A report previously released by Metric shows that from January 2023 to August 2024, the total revenue from Chinese cosmetics on three e-commerce platforms in Vietnam—Shopee, Lazada, and Tiki—reached 100.5 billion Vietnamese dong.
In January 2023, the market revenue was slightly above 3 billion Vietnamese dong, and by January 2024, sales were close to 10 billion.
This means that by January 2024 alone, the industry had grown approximately three times compared to the same period last year.
